Questions

Which cities have the most centimillionaires?

Short answer

New York had the most centimillionaires in Henley & Partners' 2024 city ranking, with 744 people holding at least US$100 million in liquid investable wealth. The Bay Area followed with 675, then Los Angeles with 496. London, Beijing, Singapore, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Paris also ranked among the leading cities (Henley & Partners, 2024).

The leading cities

Henley & Partners counted 744 centimillionaires in New York, 675 in the Bay Area, and 496 in Los Angeles. London ranked next with 370, followed by Beijing with 347 and Singapore with 336. Shanghai had 322, Hong Kong 320, and Paris 286 (Henley & Partners, 2024).

The ranking shows a strong US presence at the top: New York, the Bay Area, and Los Angeles held the first three positions. Across the full top 50, the US had 15 cities (Henley & Partners, 2024). These figures count people, not family offices, and reflect the report's definition of wealth.

What "centimillionaire" means in this ranking

Henley & Partners defines wealth as liquid investable wealth, including listed holdings, cash, and debt-free residential property. Its 2024 report counted 29,350 people worldwide with at least US$100 million on this basis (Henley & Partners, 2024). This is different from a ranking based on total net worth, so counts from other reports may not be directly comparable.

For context, Knight Frank's 2025 Wealth Report uses a net-worth measure and estimated that more than 100,000 people worldwide were worth US$100 million or more. That figure uses a different definition and should not be read as an alternative count under Henley's liquid-wealth method (Knight Frank, 2025).

How to read the city list

The city figures help identify where high concentrations of people meeting Henley's measure are found. They do not show how many family offices are based in each city, or where wealth was earned. Henley's report also says that one-third of centimillionaires live in 50 cities, while the US has 15 cities in that group (Henley & Partners, 2024).

A Family Office Club event transcript gives a related example of how the club's work reaches across cities: a speaker describes investor summits held in places including New York, London, San Francisco, Toronto, Miami, Dallas, Chicago, and Singapore. That list reflects event locations, not a ranking of centimillionaire populations.
